Our virtual community joins together writers,
artists, editors, film makers, web builders and all those who are
fascinated by the fantastic. Ring membership is open to all.

HOW
DO I JOIN
Joining this ring is just like joining any
other web ring. Here are your four steps for success:
Go to the friendly Control
Panel below and fill in your site details. Chose a password.
Submit your site to the
queue by pressing the "Add" button. You will now see the
code you need to put on your page (called the HTML fragment). This
code does not contain your site ID. You will receive an Email
containing your site ID which you should add to the fragment where
it says "YOUR_SITE_ID_HERE". Also add your name and Email
to the fragment.
When you've done this,
add the fragment to your page code and publish it.
E-mail Here
Be Dragons Mission Control and tell us that your site is published
and ready to join the ring.
If you need clarification or assistance, e-mail us and we will endeavor
to help you.

See
the big grey box below with all the fields in it.
Fill in the form to register your site with the Here Be Dragons
Webring. When you have finished, click the "Add Your Site
To The Here Be Dragons Net Ring Queue" button. You will
be taken to a page showing the HTML fragment. Simply copy this and
add your site ID, name and Email address, as outlined in the previous
section.
When you have published this, send an Email to webmistress@herebedragons.co.uk,
telling her that the page is published. She will know you are in
the queue and will have checked it. When you tell her it is published,
she will move you from the queue into the ring.
An example of how your
fragment should look is displayed below.

CODE
If
you are very clever or very sad, you might wish to fiddle with the
HTML fragment yourself. This is not recommended, because you will
be Emailed all the information you need. However, who are we to
tell you what to do with your time?
The fragment in all its glory is given below. You will notice the
<target=top> tags for getting out of frames THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT.
If none of this means anything to you, stop and go back up the page
now!

FAQ
DOES
MY SITE NEED TO BE ABOUT DRAGONS?
No.
IS
MY SITE GOOD ENOUGH?
We don't make judgment calls on other people's taste provided we
don't consider it offensive (see later).
If you've spent a considerable proportion of your life building
a site, then you're probably very proud of it. Accordingly, we will
be proud to have it on our ring providing it fits in and doesn't
give offense.
Take a look at other sites in the Here Be Dragons Webring to see
if you will be at home here.
WHAT
MUST I DO TO ENSURE INCLUSION?
The HTML fragment must work and be displayed somewhere on your site
so that it is easy to find and view.
We don't insist on it being placed on your front page - although
that's nice if you feel so inclined.
WHAT
MUST I DO TO ENSURE REJECTION?
Not being able to find or easily view the HTML fragment. Fragments
that don't work.
Sites that are nothing but lists of links and contain no original
material whatsoever.
Sites that breach copyright.
Sites that are tasteless, inflammatory, offensive or illegal. What
constitutes this is at the discretion of Here Be Dragons and discussion
will not be entered into.
Sites with frames which don't let you get out of them. This pisses
everybody off - including us.
CAN
I ALTER THE LOOK OF THE HTML FRAGMENT?
Of course you can. It's your website! Just ensure that you don't
break it (the fragment, that is).

CAN'T FIGURE THIS HTML STUFF OUT - WHAT SHOULD I DO?
Send us an Email.
If you're stuck, we're happy to help. Please be patient, we sometimes
get backed up for a few days - you know how it is....
